Health Information

Overview
Head Start has a commitment to wellness for children, families, and staff that embraces a comprehensive vision of overall health, with a goal of identifying needs and concerns, and linking families to an on going source of continuous and accessible care.

In the promotion of healthy development, every child needs a source of health care that is available even after the child and family have left Head Start. Each child visits their health care provider, on a schedule of preventive and primary health care, to ensure that problems are quickly identified and addressed, so that this early identification can reduce complications and improve health outcomes.

Families play the most important role in their child’s health as the primary care givers. They provide important information about their child’s health and development and these concerns are carefully addressed. Families are encouraged to participate in health promotion activities, well-child care, treatment for health problems, follow-up health care, and to receive training and information on child health and development.
